Hello everyone!
As Anbeeld stopped supporting ARoAI in 1.3.6, the mod will officialy break for the upcoming 1.5.x version. This is why I decided to pick it up where he left it off, and introduce Laaxus Revision of AI (or LRoAI)!
My name is Laaxus. You may know me as the main AI dev of Cold War Project. I’ve worked on it for months now, so I can confidently say that I understand ARoAI quite well.
My goal for this project is to entirely rewrite ARoAI, step by step, to make it better and provide clear documentation so that the community can keep it going when I eventually step back.
If you’ve ever tried to read ARoAI code, you probably know how hard it is to grasp it, let alone maintain it. Maintainability will be my main focus, but it does not mean the AI will not improve over time. Even though I did most of the work on CWP, I’ll start from a fresh base!
Quick Questions
Why dev diaries?
- It’s fun
- It might help future modders to understand how ARoAI (now LRoAI) works
- It’ll challenge my formal english writing skill (which definitly could be better, so please bear with me)
What needs to be done?

As I said earlier, I must rewrite almost everything. Sometimes for the sake of maintainability, sometimes for efficiency.
How often can we expect updates?
I’m a university student. I have a thesis to write, friends to see, another big project on the side and finally LRoAI as dead last.
This does not mean I won’t update the project however. I think 1 or 2 dev diaries a month is doable.
When will you stop maintaining LRoAI?
When it won’t be fun anymore.
1.5 Changelog
I’ve released a version of LRoAI that should be working with the current 1.5.2 patch.
The main differences between this version and ARoAI are :
- Added support for vineyard, military shipyard, explosive factories and artillery foundries.
- Removed game rules
- bugfixes
